Qinghai – Tibet Railway

The Quinghai-Tibet Railway Line is a high-altitude railway that connects Xining,
Qinghai Province, to Lhasa, Tibet Autonomous Region, in China.
Track-laying in Tibet was launched from both directions, towards Tanggula
Mountain and Lhasa, from Anduo Railway Station on 22 June 2004. On 24
August 2005, track was laid at the railway's highest point, the Tanggula Pass,
5,072 m (16,640 feet) above sea level.
The Construction Highlights of building the Quinghai-Tibet Railway Line were:
- Equipment & Plants: 3,000 sets
- Problems with altitude permafrost, anoxia and zoology were solved
Major projects completed by CREC are:
- Permafrost tunnel - Kunlun Mountain Tunnel with a total lengt of 1,686m
and an altitude of 4648m
- Lasha Bridge & Lasha Railway Station
CREC contract share was 50% of the total - and in detail:
- Roadbed and track construction - 506.5km, 46% of the newly built
- Main track pavement - 668km, 61% of the newly built
- Communication and signals - 80% of the entire works
- Supervision - 320 km and several scientific research items execution
